Game Con Canada will auction off three Warhammer-branded gaming PCs during the convention in Edmonton next week.

The high-powered computers, worth more than $4,500 each, will be auctioned off during the convention, which runs June 14-16, with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The PCs were donated as a collaboration between Memory Express, a leading Canadian computer electronics retailer, and video game studio Focus Entertainment. The latter will also debut gameplay from their highly anticipated game Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, at Game Con.

“This would be the first time we’ve had something like this in Canada, where a AAA studio is coming to our country to debut a game and give Canadians a playable demo before it even gets launched,” said Marc Belisle, vice president of Meibel Consulting, the parent company of Game Con Canada.

Along with the debut of Space Marine 2, Belisle says the convention will feature games from 42 additional studios including many Edmonton-based developers, allowing attendees to get an early look at the year’s hottest upcoming titles.

This is the sophomore year for Game Con Canada after their debut effort in Calgary in 2023, which was host to more than 35,000 attendees. This past March, Belisle noted that a recent economic impact report released by NorQuest College predicts this year’s Game Con will generate between $15 million and $18 million in revenue for the city.

“We had a feeling that Edmonton was going to be just this massive gaming Mecca for us and so far, it’s been awesome,” Belisle said. “We are so excited to pack (the Edmonton Expo Centre), and with the ticket sales we already have plus the sales we know we’re going to get and with the stuff that we’re unleashing this year, it’s going to be huge.”
