Galaxy Buds 3 Vs. Buds 2: Major Upgrades Unveiled
Yesterday, at the Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung launched the Galaxy Buds 3, the successor to the Galaxy Buds 2. These new earbuds feature substantial improvements in design, durability, connectivity, audio, call quality, battery life, and advanced features.
The Galaxy Buds 3 adopt a stem design similar to Apple AirPods, offering a more secure and comfortable fit. This design also places the microphones closer to the lips, enhancing call quality. The earbuds are more rugged, with an IP57 rating for water and dust resistance, compared to the Galaxy Buds 2’s IP52 rating, making them more resilient against elements.
The charging case of the Galaxy Buds 3 is vertically designed, saving desk space, and features a transparent lid for easy visibility of the earbuds. A new pairing button on the case facilitates quick pairing with new devices.
Audio quality has also seen an upgrade. Despite using a single-driver setup, the Galaxy Buds 3 promise better sound, bolstered by the new SSC HiFi and SSC UHQ audio codecs, which offer higher audio sampling rates than the Galaxy Buds 2. Connectivity is improved with Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring a more stable connection compared to the 5.2 version on the Buds 2.
Call quality is enhanced with Super Wideband (SWB) technology in the microphones, capturing a broader audio bandwidth. Galaxy AI further improves voice clarity, reconstructing lost bits of speech and offering real-time language translation through the Interpreter app.
Battery life is extended, with the charging case featuring a 515mAh battery, a 9% increase over the Galaxy Buds 2. This results in longer playback and talk times. Despite the earbuds having smaller batteries, efficiency improvements have maintained or increased usage time.
