From new-season fashion heroes – think biker boots, cosy cardigans and shirt dresses – to 2024’s new brands to know, we’ve got all bases covered. Noteworthy arrivals

The Noughties maxi is having a moment this season, and Damson Madder’s Rina gingham skirt is ticking all the boxes. Elsewhere, we have M&S X Sienna Miller, which launched this week and features the perfect buckled belt. Bring on a boho summer.

Coperni has joined forces with sports connoisseurs, Puma, to create a tempting capsule of performance-wear staples, which includes a punchy colour-pop tee. Speaking of sporty pieces, we’re also seeing the humble flip-flop enter the chat for summer 2024, and of course The Row has delivered the ultimate pair in tan leather.

Everyone in London is wearing white tiered skirts right now, and Free People’s asymmetric Shipwreck mini is one of the best we’ve seen. We recommend styling with a sporty sneaker, tank top and workwear jacket for breezy summer evenings. Glastonbury-goers take note.

Multiple members of team Vogue now own, and wax lyrical about, Peachy Den’s cult Deba skirt – and we can certainly see why. With its dropped waistline and calf-grazing length, you can wear it with the matching top or mix and match with everything from T-shirts to hoodies this summer. Meanwhile, underwear specialist Fruity Booty now offers ready-to-wear, with the mother of pearl tank top right at the top of our wish list.

When it comes to swimwear, we’re harking back to the ’90s this year with Mango’s animal-print one-piece. Style with denim cut-offs and oval sunnies for a very Princess Di vibe. Rixo has also hit the summer brief this week with its collaboration with Ciao Lucia. At the top of our list? The Neroni dress, which features 2024’s coveted drop waistline and simple delicate straps. Navy Grey has long been an editor go-to for knitwear, but for summer 2024 the brand has dropped a new line of sportier sweatshirts and hoodies – the relaxed-fit sweatshirt in grey is sure to become a wardrobe workhorse, perfect for any time of year. Sneakerheads, meanwhile, need to get their hands on a pair of Asics X Studio Nicholson trainers. Run don’t walk.

If linen fabrics and colour-pop stripes are the last thing you want to reach for when the mercury rises, we recommend experimenting with summer’s gothic mood. See: Junya Watanabe’s dramatic tiered skirt, which will look the part with Weekday’s draped tank top and Alaïa’s perforated half-moon bag. Finish the look with Fitflop’s comfy-yet-cool clogs.

Those who take the merest glimpse of sun as an opportunity to don their shorts and swimsuits will enjoy the plethora of crochet pieces on offer this season. Mango’s beige knitted trousers and Free People’s raffia tote will inject your looks with much-needed “off-duty in Ibiza” vibes. Elsewhere, we have Aussie brand Bond-Eye, that has delivered the cutest powder-blue swimsuit rendered in floral-printed jacquard. So very ’90s spring break.

Gingham is having a bit of a moment right now, and we just found the perfect pre-loved shirt at Rokit. Whether you tuck it into denim cut-offs or wear it undone over a white tank top and a prairie skirt, this is sure to be one warm-weather workhorse. Gimaguas is another summertime fashion favourite, and we currently have our eye on the brand’s A-line denim skirt. Finally, there’s the return of the jelly shoe, which has been given a grown-up update in the hands of Ancient Greek Sandals.

If your summer style personality errs on the side of sporty, then look no further than Loewe’s latest collaboration with On, which includes both activewear staples and form-meets-function sneakers. Reiss’s Atelier collection also comes with an “elevated sportswear” spin: see the linen-blend sports jacket in a chic shade of stone. Then, there’s Arket’s khaki-coloured cargo shorts, which offer a fun alternative to your trusty denim pair.

Shorts weather has arrived, and Studio Nicholson’s longline pair in beige have caught our eye. Style with loafers and a light cardigan now – see Cos’s zesty ombre knit – then a tank top and fisherman sandals come summer. Elsewhere, Reformation has launched a collaboration with Jimmy Fairly, and The Coline’s retro-inspired, oval-shaped sunglasses are fast becoming the silhouette of the season.

The gorpcore trend isn’t going anywhere, so why not lean in with The North Face’s twill pants for the ultimate meeting of form and function? Similarly, Mango has jumped on the hiker vibe with its new-in cord sandals, which will pair perfectly with everything from summer dresses to slouchy denim. Glastonbury attendees take note.

With its shell-like bust detail and chic linen fabrication, you’d never know the below dress was from high-street stalwart, M&S. Throw on a pair of minimalist sandals and oval sunnies and you have yourself a very ’90s-inspired warm weather ensemble. The Attico has also smashed the summer brief this season with its retina-searing red crochet co-ord, which will transition from beach to city with ease.

Ssense has just launched its own wedding capsule, but the directional pieces in the collection should not be reserved for brides. Aaron Esh’s cute cream co-ord, which features a halter-neck top and bubble-hem miniskirt, is a highlight. Meanwhile, Malone Souliers has partnered with British fashion designer, Tabitha Simmons, on a versatile shoe capsule – the Kate Mary-Jane flats are worth your attention.

When it comes to simple, easy-to-style dresses, you don’t get much better than a tank dress, and & Other Stories’s black iteration will look great with sleek sandals and sneakers alike. Elsewhere, we’re seeing the return of the string choker necklace – just add Isabel Marant’s gold and leather style to your favourite white shirt and straight-leg jeans pairing.

Is it just us, or is the balloon skirt having a moment this season? With its dramatic, voluminous silhouette, it’s the perfect piece to add to a simple white T-shirt and sandals – Weekday has our favourite iterations right now. Meanwhile, The Row has delivered yet another lust-worthy flat shoe in the form of the Mara, which comes in four tempting colourways.

The moment commerce writer Alice Cary spotted Uniqlo’s parachute shorts in store, she knew she had to try them on. Rendered in a lightweight fabric and featuring an elasticated waistband and toggle fastening, it’s the ultimate gorpcore (and Glasto-ready) purchase for the summer months.

There are some seriously good pieces from emerging brands cropping up this week: take Tolu Coker’s wool midi-skirt, with its asymmetric hemline and intricate pleating. Then there’s Talia Byre’s spring/summer 2024 collection, which has just dropped online (we’re lusting after the long-sleeved striped top in lime green). YSSO’s sculptural jewellery, meanwhile, is now available to shop on Net-a-Porter.
