Friday works: 51 graded winners include turf star Chili Flag

Chili Flag, who joined the ranks of top-level winners when she led home a Chad Brown-trained exacta in the Grade 1 Just a Game on June 7, returned to work Friday for the first time since that race. She went four furlongs in 50.88 seconds over the dirt training track at Saratoga. Though Chili Flag ran off the board in the Pegasus World Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G2) in her graded-stakes debut, she has since won three straight starts in graded company.

Grade 1 winner Candied worked Friday for the first time since winning the Lady’s Secret Stakes at Monmouth on June 8. The Todd Pletcher trainee worked four furlongs in 49.77 seconds over the dirt training track at Saratoga. Her victory in the Lady’s Secret came in her second start of the year, and was her first win since the Alcibiades (G1) at Keeneland in October.
