Daily horse racing tips

  • SANDOWN
    2.30: The Actor 2/1 (2pts)
    3.40: Anno Domini 6/4 (2pts)
    4.15: Savvy Victory 5/1 each-way (1.5pts)

The Actor

The Coral Eclipse meeting kicks off on Friday ahead of the Group 1 on Saturday.

The 5f Dragon Stakes is a listed contest that stars another Wathnan Racing-owned horse under James Doyle, Aesterius.

Who was a close fifth place at Royal Ascot behind Shareholder in the Norfolk Stakes.

The Actor was fancied quite well as a 9/1 shot in the Coventry Stakes over 6f a couple of days prior but could only manage 13th, five lengths behind the winner.

He’s shown real potential as a two-year-old and the step up from 5f to 6f, didn’t seem to pay off, having won to Tropical Storm over a month before.

That horse went on to place behind Shareholder too so it really boosts his chances back down in trip.

Add to that Al Qudra’s attempt over 6f to come just a length of Rashabar, also in the Coventry, The Actor is a great price to thrive at Sandown.

Anno Domini

Another Godolphin-owned runner for Charlie Appleby under the class jockey William Buick, Anno Domini looks the worthy favourite after his debut victory.

The grey colt by New Bay, didn’t start that race off well at Newbury dropping to the rear after getting a little bump, but soon responded brilliantly to go and win under Buick by close to a length.

The resulting form has worked out quite well too, with third placed Invited, going on to place in two decent races since, acquiring an overall rating of 84.

Experience should help too, coming up against many debutants, which should not make much of an effect of his 5lb penalty.

Savvy Victory

Has won over course and distance which should go a long way to helping this 5/1 each-way shot win, or at least be prominent.

Most read in Horse Racing

He was gelded in January and has only had one run since which was a respectable fourth place of 15 runners at Royal Ascot in the Wolferton Stakes.

Plenty of improvement expected and remains high up in the ratings to make a good go of this against these rivals, all of which aren’t consistent winners at this level.
