The duo beat Dustin Brown and Frances Tiafoe yesterday to advance.

Waiting for them in round two at Roland Garros were 19th seeds Mate Pavic and Marcelo Arevalo.

The players were made to wait hours for their match to commence due to the rainy conditions in Paris.

They eventually did take to court, despite every other doubles match on today’s schedule being postponed due to the weather.

When they did get going, the contest did not last long.

Arevalo and Pavic began the match by holding serve.

Following that single game, Daniell was forced to retire due to an injury, handing Arevalo and Pavic safe passage to round three.

The Croatian-Salvadoran partnership are now due to face German sixth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Tim Putz.

McDonald, meanwhile, is signed up to play the Challenger event in Surbiton next week.

Although it remains to be seen whether the American will make the quick transition from sodden Parisian clay to the lawns of South London.

Andy Murray shares heartfelt moment with Stan Wawrinka as he bids emotional farewell to French Open

The defending champion in Surbiton is Andy Murray, who is also signed up to play there this year.

Murray, 37, was beaten in the first round of the singles at Roland Garros 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 by fellow veteran Stan Wawrinka.

Yesterday he lost 7-6, 7-6 alongside Dan Evans to Thiago Seyboth Wild and Sebastian Baez in the doubles.

After the match, Murray revealed that he could play alongside brother Jamie at Wimbledon.

He said: “My brother doesn’t have a partner for Wimbledon currently.

“We have spoken a little bit about it. So I may do that but I’m not 100 per cent sure yet.

“When would I make that decision? Ahead of time. I mean obviously Jamie, he could also get a good partner as well…”
