French Open: Iga Swiatek Dubbed to ‘Absolutely’ Dethrone Chris Evert in Tennis Insider’s Bold Prophecy

Iga Swiatek has continued to go beyond the expectations of the tennis world in this year’s French Open. She has only dropped one set on her way to the semifinal and on her way to win her fifth Grand Slam. She is the number 1 contender to win the title, which will equal her Roland-Garros numbers to Justine Henin. However, Prakash Amritraj believes she can go even further and break the record of Chris Evert at 7!

In the number of French Open titles, Swiatek is tied at number 4, with Henin, Steffi Graf, and Evert ahead of her. However, Amritraj has absolute faith that Swiatek can overtake the American legend.

In a segment of Tennis Channel prior to her clash with Gauff, he said, I tell you what, though. Look at that board. There I mean, if she wins, which she’s, you know, likely to do this event, she goes to four. Look at those names she’s leaving behind on the bottom. Sanchez-Vicario who was brutal on the stuff. Serena Williams, Monica Seles I mean, and she’s only 22.

Watching her stand proud with the legends of women’s tennis, Amritraj further said, “Just absolutely mind boggling. I mean, look at this age. She keeps playing this way. Absolutely, Steve, why not?”

Serena Williams, Monica Seles, Margaret Court, and Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario stand equal to the ‘Queen of Clay’. However, she has a good chance of going ahead of them. Iga Swiatek is likely to go all out against Coco Gauff, whom she has defeated twice in the French Open.

The American comes to the semifinal with hopes of achieving her first win against the Pole in Paris. However, she is warned about the Polish star by Andy Roddick as he compares her dominance to the King of Clay.

Andy Roddick warns Coco Gauff of Iga Swiatek ‘not losing games

2008 is considered to be one of the best years of Rafael Nadal. He won two majors, including his first Wimbledon, three Masters titles, and earned an Olympic gold medal. The Spaniard became a future legend in the year and continued his dominance of clay in the following years. Swiatek’s current form reminded Roddick of Rafa in 2008, as she clinches the Madrid and Italian Open, now aiming for her fifth slam, fourth in Paris.

Iga Swiatek has just dominated. I mean, she’s just not losing games. It reminds me of Rafa in 2008.” The 2003 US Open champion further said, “He was barely losing games to win the tournament. It felt like we were betting on whether guys were going to get three games in a set against him. That’s what it feels like with Iga so far.”

Gauff has a big challenge on her hands. Not only will this be their third French Open match, it will be their fifth match on clay. So far, Gauff has lost all of their clashes on clay. Will she be able to overcome someone who has the possibility of going beyond Evert’s record?
