Former FSU football star leads youth camp in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Former Florida State University wide receiver and national champion Kenny Shaw stopped by Panama City on Saturday, June 15th for his “Shaw is RAW Academy” football camp.

Kids from 1st grade all the way up to seniors in high school showed up to showcase their skills and work on their technique with help from the former Seminole and his coaching staff.

Shaw typically only hosts his camp in Orlando, but he was brought up to Bay County after FSU Panama City staff realized the positive impact he was having on kids across the state.

Although teaching kids some new skills to help them on the field is great, for Shaw there is a bigger meaning behind his time in Panama City.

“I wasn’t as confident, believe it or not, once I stepped foot off that field,” said Shaw. “What I’m trying to make them understand is life is going to happen, let’s figure it out. We can never quit because if we quit, that’s when you lose, and we don’t like losing.”

Saturday was the only day for the “Shaw is RAW Academy” football camp here in Panama City.
