Former Alabama football player arrested, charged with domestic violence, burglary

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WIAT) — Former Alabama football player and Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs was arrested early Sunday morning, according to the Tuscaloosa police.

According to TPD Public Information Officer Stephanie Taylor, officers responded to the 1600 block of Mimosa Road around 5:28 a.m. Sunday. Buggs, 28, was charged with second-degree domestic violence and second-degree burglary.

Buggs, who was recently traded to the Chiefs last season, was charged with two counts of second-degree animal cruelty in May, after two dogs were found starving and dirty on the back porch of a property he had been renting in Tuscaloosa.

Following his time at Alabama, Buggs was signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019, playing for them until going to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021. Following a season with the Detroit Lions, Buggs was picked up by the Kansas City Chief in 2023, where he currently plays.

He was transported to the Tuscaloosa County Jail, and is being held on a 12-hour domestic violence hold and $5,000 bond.
