Quabbin and Gardner are the only two girls tennis teams in the Gardner area
Tennis season has come to a close and Gardner-area teams saw their share of successes and highlight moments. As we reflect on the season, it is also the chance to notice which individual athletes rose to the top, breaking through and excelling at their sport.
These Gardner-area athletes are nominated for Tennis Player of the Year for their talent and skill on the court throughout the season, contributing to their team and its success. Vote below in the poll for who you think deserves the title of Player of the Year. Fan voting will be factored into the decision and a winner will be announced at a later date.
Maeve Hanson, Gardner
Hanson won five doubles matches with various partners throughout the season to help Gardner to three wins this season.
Annabelle Magill, Quabbin
The senior first singles player was a standout this season for the Panthers, leading the way to a Sweet 16 appearance in the state tournament.
Magill totaled 16 singles match wins out of the 19 she played. This helped Quabbin to a record of 17-3.

Carlee Rich, Quabbin
Rich served as Quabbin’s third singles player. She was another key part of the Panthers’ success this season, winning 13 of her singles matches.
Madelyn Stauder, Quabbin
The sophomore was a great asset to Quabbin’s doubles play. She was part of 16 doubles match wins with various partners, winning 14 of the 16 with Elizabeth Matheson.

Ella Swanson, Gardner
The Wildcats’ singles player totaled four match wins over the course of the season to help to Gardner’s three total wins.
