Apart from a $1.55 million record-setter and a $400,000 colt, the Fasig-Tipton July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale sold three others for at least $200,000, showcasing the quality of Thoroughbreds offered at the sale July 8.
A 4-year-old filly named Girl Trouble (Hip 426) sold for $235,000 to United States-based agent Chad Schumer and European agents Matthew Houldsworth and Geoffrey Howson. Consigned by Brookdale as agent, Girl Trouble is a multiple stakes winner. At 2, the New Jersey-bred won the Future Stars Filly Division Stakes at Parx Racing and at 3 won the Parx Futurity. Her 16 starts to date include three other stakes-placed finishes. Girl Trouble is by Fast Anna out of the Ghostzapper daughter Adorabella. Fast Anna has sired five foal crops and 14 blacktype winners. Most notable is Thorpedo Anna , the 2024 Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner. Girl Trouble will be heading to Australia to continue her racing career, according to Schumer.
Irish-bred Son of Uncle Mo Sells for $230,000
Hip 422, Final Edition , a 3-year-old colt by Uncle Mo , sold for $230,000 to BSW/Crow for Thelma and Louise Stable. Final Edition has had two starts as a 3-year-old, a second, and a third with earnings of $28,800. He was consigned by Highgate Sales, agent. Final Edition’s dam, Most Gifted, is a winning daughter of War Front and a full sister to two-time grade 3 winner Ancient Rome , who has career earnings of $1,543,050. Ancient Rome, in his lone North American start, won the 2023 Mint Millions Stakes (G3T) at Kentucky Downs by half a length. He participated in nine group races in Europe with a win in the Prix des Chenes (G3) in 2021.
Bradley Weisbord and Liz Crow bought two other horses during the day. They went to $195,000 early in the session for Wachtel Stable to acquire Bright Skittle (Hip 404), a Twirling Candy colt who was third in the Royal Palm Juvenile Stakes at Gulfstream Park. BSW/Crow also bought Hip 483, a colt named Then by Not This Time , for $150,000 on behalf of Greathorse Racing. Hip 483 is a half brother to grade 1 winner Du Jour .
Debut Winner by Tiz The Law Brings $200,000
Meah/Lloyd Bloodstock as agent shopped in the sale top five after acquiring a Tiz The Law 2-year-old filly named Tigerish for $200,000. The filly, consigned by Hunter Valley Farm, is out of winning Woodman mare Lerici, making the sales filly a half sister to grade 1 winner Avenge (War Front) and grade 3 winner Liguria (War Front). Tiz The Law, winner of the 2020 Belmont Stakes (G1) earned $2,735,300 and has sired 65 black-type winners. Tigerish won by 2 1/4 lengths in her first and only start June 24 at Horseshoe Indianapolis.
