Fans react to Scheffler’s ‘prison fade’ as he debuts shock new haircut
Scottie Scheffler is sporting a fresh look at the US Open this week after getting a haircut just in time for Thursday’s opening round.
And after noticing the short fade underneath his golf cap – as well as the resulting tan lines on his neck and sideburns – fans couldn’t resist putting it down to his recent arrest in Louisville.
Scheffler was infamously arrested while making his way into Valhalla Golf Club ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship last month, before being booked into jail on four criminal charges.
After being released that morning and making it back to Valhalla in time for his second round, all charges against the World No. 1 were eventually dropped.
Yet almost a month on from the astonishing incident, golf fans believe Scheffler is now rocking a ‘prison fade’.

When pictures of his new short hairstyle and striking tan lines emerged on social media, users were quick to make references the Louisville arrest.
One wrote: ‘That’s that inmate cut’.
Another simply posted: ‘Prison fade’.
‘That jail buzz looking [fire],’ posted a third.
One tipped Scheffler for success at this week’s US Open and put: ‘Fresh cut, no beard. Feel a low score coming!’
Another said: ‘Scottie with the fade’.
While one quipped about his tan lines: ‘Better have sunscreen on lol’.
Earlier this week, Scheffler admitted he couldn’t help but laugh at the viral video of an amateur golfer re-enacting his dramatic arrest.
The two-time Masters champion was taken to jail on four charges – including second-degree felony assault of a police officer – after he was accused of dragging an officer to the ground as he made his way into the course.
After the charges were dropped, a video emerged showing a fan entering the parking lot of a course in Louisville – near where Scheffler was arrested.
Stuck on to the side of the car was a mannequin dressed up as a policeman.
‘It’s kind of hard not to laugh about the guy who did that,’ Scheffler said on Tuesday ahead of this week’s US Open at Pinehurst.
‘Xander (Schauffele) did tell me about it yesterday. He got a pretty good kick out of it.’
