Exclusive Interview: Don Diamont Reacts to B&B Paternity Shocker

After months of Luna’s paternity being in question, Bold and the Beautiful has revealed that Bill Spencer, played by Don Diamont, is the father of Poppy’s daughter. Diamont is talking to Soap Hub about what that means for his character.

It’s A Girl!

Surprise children are nothing new to Bill Spencer — he learned that both Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and Liam (Scott Clifton) were his sons — but this time, Bill’s gotten a daughter in Lisa Yamada’s Luna. “I was thrilled,” Diamont tells Soap Hub about discovering that Luna is Bill’s daughter.

He feels the show is staying consistent with the character of Bill as he was first brought on to the canvas. “Let’s not forget he was introduced to the show as the ultimate playboy misogynist,” Diamont points out. “[It’s] very organic to the character.”

Bill’s “love ’em and leave ’em” approach — as he took with Poppy (Romy Park), Luna’s mother, and other women including Quinn (Rena Sofer), Wyatt’s mom — may have to do with how he was raised.

“Bill didn’t really know his father [Bill, Sr. played by Jim Storm] until he was a teenager,” Diamont points out. “And we haven’t explored his relationship with his mother, but I have my own ideas about that.”

While Bill may be still absorbing this latest paternity twist, Diamont says his TV daughter has tons of positive qualities. “She is very dynamic and charming, there’s a goodness about her and a sweetness,” he says. “She’s very smart and seems to be very driven.”

A Bridge Not Too Far

As Luna is dating RJ (Joshua Hoffman), Bill being her father could put him in the orbit of his ex-wife Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), RJ’s mom. “Honestly, I haven’t even given that any consideration, but it could certainly do that.

“It certainly is multi-dimensional,” Diamont says of the paternity news and its potential fallout.

Ultimately, Don Diamont sees this development as a blessing for his character. Bill has been, at times, strict with his sons, but viewers are going to see how he is with a daughter now. “You’ll see [today] and in the coming weeks when the results come back that this is genuinely moving for him,” says Diamont, suggesting, “Maybe he can right some wrongs? This just touches Bill in a different way.”
