Euro 2024 build-up: England squad reaction & Scotland latest
Scotland keeper Gordon set to miss out on Euro 2024published at 09:50
Scotland v Finland (19:45 BST)
Despite being set to miss out on Scotland’s Euro 2024 squad, BBC Scotland understands that Hearts veteran Craig Gordon is in line to play in their final warm-up against Finland later, which would take him to 75 caps.
The 41-year-old goalkeeper has played just seven matches since breaking his leg in December 2022, while fellow Tynecastle keeper Zander Clark now appears to be Scotland’s established second choice behind Angus Gunn.
Gordon has been one of Scotland’s best keepers over the last two decades but has never represented his country at a major tournament.
The former Sunderland and Celtic keeper would join a host of notable Scots who have never managed to play at a Euros or a World Cup due to the team’s failure to qualify for a major tournament between Euro 2000 and Euro 2020. Darren Fletcher, Scott Brown and James McFadden are just a few names on that list.
Gordon’s best chance came in Euro 2020 when he was selected for the squad. However, he was an unused substitute as David Marshall was first choice at the time.
