Speaking on BBC before the match, former spain and Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has admitted that his nation are ‘afraid’ of what England can do.

He said:

“We are afraid, yesterday I was confident but today I am afraid. You have a great team especially up front, you have players who can win a game in one split second, Kane, Phil (Foden), Saka, Bellingham. We know we are playing good, we know we arrive in this final as probably favourites, but we know what you are capable of.”

It is reported by the Telegraph that Luke Shaw is set to replace Kieran Trippier at left wing-back, in what will be his first start of the tournament.

It was reported earlier this week that England were set to remain unchanged, but it seems like Southgate has made the decision to try and offer more ‘balance and flexibility’ on the left.

England manager Gareth Southgate has told his team to go and ‘make it happen’ in tonight’s final amid talk of it being England’s year.

The Three Lions have seen two late goals and a penalty shootout victory on their way to the final in Berlin. But it’s not something that Southgate is buying in to.

“Look, I’m not a believer in fairytales but I am a believer in dreams, and we’ve had big dreams. We’ve felt the need and the importance of that, but then you have to make those things happen,” he told media at the Olympiastadion ahead of the final.

“And fate, the run that we’ve had, the late goals, the penalties: all that doesn’t equate to it being our moment. We have to make it happen tomorrow. We have to perform at the level that we need to.
