Edmonton Oilers fans rated third kindest of Canadian NHL cities

Edmonton Oilers fans may be incredibly passionate, but they also show a lot of compassion for opposing hockey teams, according to a new survey ranking the sportsmanship of all NHL cities.
A study from Casino.org released Wednesday surveyed 3,000 U.S. and Canadian NHL fans, analyzing behaviours — including the frequency of booing, cheering and trash-talking on social media — and ranking the cities from most aggressive (“ice cold”) to kindest (“warmest”).

The survey found that Edmonton fans are some of the kindest across the NHL, ranking third “warmest” Canadian city and in the Pacific Division, plus 10th overall.
Roughly 93 per cent of Oilers fans don’t cheer for opposing team injuries, and 80 per cent say they don’t trash talk other teams on social media.
More than 77 per cent of Oilers fans avoid unsportsmanlike behaviours like taunting, throwing food or fighting, according to the survey.
Unsurprisingly, the survey said Oilers fans find Calgary Flames fans to be the most “ice cold.”
The survey ranked Ottawa as the “warmest” NHL city and Chicago the most “ice cold.”
