Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Gets Name Change & Gameplay Reveal June 11

After many months without any update, Bioware dropped the news that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf received a name change and a gameplay reveal is set for June 11. (SPOILERS AHEAD)

The next instalment of Bioware’s high fantasy franchise has received a name change. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which was named after Solas after he was revealed as a massive adversary in Inquisition, has now been changed to correlate more with the player’s party of characters. Bioware went with a ‘similar to the term Inquisition,’ rather than the big bad that looms over Thedas. Introducing the new name, of the fourth game in the Bioware series, Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

Bioware outlined the news in a blog post from Executive Producer Gary McKay who says “As fans of our franchise know, every Dragon Age game has delivered a new standalone story. Set in the world of Thedas, these tales explore epic locales and threats, always thrusting you into a new conflict. Each game also introduces a new lead hero – The Warden, Hawke, The Inquisitor – that you can call your own. You can expect all that, and more, with the new game” while revealing the new title.

While Bioware (and McKay) have confirmed this will indeed be the next step forward for the franchise, McKay goes on to detail how Dragon Age: The Veilguard will retain the series roots. He explains that there will be seven companions complete with striking personalities and side adventures, and the new title is to help the player feel connected to their companions and not the big bad who was formerly a trusted ally. This is similar to the previous title, Inquisition, which referred to the group of allies that bound together to defeat the last world-ending threat in Corypheus.
