Djokovic confesses that he struggles to find the right motivation – Tennis Tonic – News, Predictions, H2H, Live Scores, stats

After winning his opening match at the French Open, Novak Djokovic has addressed doubts regarding his motivation by discussing what motivates him to get out of bed. In 2024, the top player in the world has battled with his form and hasn’t made it to the final of any event.

Some have begun to doubt his motivation, and Djokovic acknowledges that it has changed over the past few months.

On Tuesday night, he could be present and excited at last. He explained why this was the first time he had had more fun all season. At Roland Garros, Djokovic believed there was a reason behind his increased motivation.

He expressed his thoughts about it and said: “So it’s something that I have been saying from the beginning of the year and from the last whatever years that Grand Slams are the ones that are getting me up from the bed every day and knowing that I have to hit the practice courts. I always think about what I can do in Grand Slams. So here I am. Hopefully, I can have another deep run. Well, I’ve said recently that I struggled with motivation constantly, so to speak, to always have that motivation I’ve had for more than 20-whatever years of professional tennis. I knew the moment is going to arrive sooner or later where I’m just going to, you know, have off weeks, so to speak, where I’m struggling to push myself or deliver what needs to be delivered on the court.”

He added: “But it’s true that I’m focused pretty much solely on Grand Slams and Olympics this year and playing for my country. That’s something that drives me the most today. The other tournaments, of course, do not maybe sound right, but these are huge tournaments, significant tournaments, tournaments that are part of the ATP Tour that I was part of and still am part of, of course, for so many years, and have been an integral part of my career and my success. But yeah, pushing myself every tournament to be at the top is becoming more challenging.”
