David Miller played an influential role in taking South Africa into the final of the recently-concluded 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.
The middle-order heavyweight unfurled sensational match-winning knocks against South Africa’s bogey team Netherlands and defending champions England; and nearly took his nation to the ultimate glory in the title clash against eventual winners India.
Interestingly, a couple of days after the conclusion of the tournament, news circulated around social media regarding the cricketer’s potential retirement from T20Is.
Here at OneCricket, we probe into the truth behind the aforementioned rumors.
Is David Miller really retiring from T20Is?
On July 1, several social media users speculated that South African batting legend David Miller has announced his retirement from T20I cricket.
While the aforementioned news gained much traction on X, neither Miller nor Cricket South Africa (CSA) have announced anything regarding the cricketer’s T20I future.

As of now, it is safe to assume that the 35-year-old will continue to grace the South African colors in the shortest format of the game.
Having made his T20I debut back in May 2010 with a match against West Indies, David Miller has so far featured in 125 T20I matches for South Africa. His 125-match career makes him one of the highest-capped T20I cricketers in the world.
Batting in the middle-order, David Miller has stacked up 2,437 runs across 109 innings at an impressive average of 33.38. The dashing left-handed batter has punched out two centuries and seven half-centuries in the process.
