Diablo Immortal Gives Players Frostmourne In First World of Warcraft Collaboration
Blizzard has announced the first World of Warcraft collaboration for Diablo Immortal, which brings the legendary icy blade Frostmourne to the mobile game.
The Diablo Immortal x World of Warcraft collaboration will take place from July 4 at 3AM to July 26 3AM served time. During that time, Frozen Gates will pop up across Sanctuary’s wilderness, and players have to hunt these portals down, enter them, and defeat the frozen enemies waiting within.
A new power, Chill of the Frozen Throne, will be available during the event. Here’s how it works: according to Blizzard, “Killing 5 monsters increases damage by 10% for 10 seconds. Randomly raise an undead warrior to fight for you (up to 5). Let this long unseen power champion your victory and lead you to rewards.”
There are three rewards you can get during the event. The first is an Icecrown Frame that you get by simply logging into the game, while the main reward, the Frostmourne Weapon Cosmetic, can be earned by completing the event. Finally, players can receive a World of Warcraft-inspired Icecrown Pathway Portal with any real money purchased in Diablo Immortal until July 26. The portal can be redeemed starting on July 11.
Diablo Immortal is the long-running franchise’s first mobile game ever and was originally released in June 2022. Canonically, it’s set between the events of Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. The game drew criticism at launch and over the years for its aggressive monetization. At launch, this even led to fans review-bombing the game because of its lack of being free-to-play, with one fan on Metacritic saying, “This is not a game, it is a casino. “
However, Diablo Immortal has continued to attract players since its launch, even getting a moderate boost to its player count with last year’s release of Diablo 4.
Diablo Immortal is available on iOS, Android, and PC.
