Some of the highly anticipated MCU sequel Deadpool & Wolverine has now screened, with a 35-minute clip having now debuted as part of the promotional tour in Shanghai, China. Featuring stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman alongside director Shawn Levy, the event saw the trio sharing stories from behind-the-scenes as well as the extensive footage from the movie. According to a report from the event by china.org, the footage teased the “action-packed dark comedy” and “the dynamics between Deadpool and Wolverine,” with the biggest laughs coming thanks to “intense cynical irony and self-mockery bluntly expressed by Deadpool in the movie, including jokes about Disney and 20th Century Fox.” A SPOILER-FILLED summary of the footage has since emerged, as have several hugely positive reactions to what was shown, and you can check out both below.
Reynolds, who returns as Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool in the sequel, heaped praise on the project saying…
“I was shocked and incredibly excited that China welcomes Deadpool particularly like this. This is my favorite Deadpool movie that I’ve ever been a part of.
There’s so many surprises in the movie we don’t want the world to start talking about it before people actually get a chance to see it. But those 35 minutes, they cook. They’re pretty damn incredible.”
