The fire situation has been stable enough to allow some crews to return to Churchill Falls to restore power to the residents of Wabush who have been in the dark for the past 24 hours.
A combination of smoke and water caused the power lines to trip late Tuesday afternoon, cutting power to residential and commercial customers in Labrador West.
Customers in Lab City were able to get power from Fermont, Quebec, but could not be extended into Wabush.
Area MHA Jordan Brown says crews were able to reconnect the town to the Churchill Falls grid just before the supperhour.
“Hydro managed to get a crew in there to reset some things and do some work to get them back online,” he told the Tim Powers Show on VOCM.
Brown says Labrador City will continue to be powered by Hydro Quebec until the situation becomes more stable.
