Coordinating Ministry For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Collaborates With Interpol To Eradicate Online Gambling

JAKARTA – The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam) will cooperate with Interpol and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to track operational sources of the online gambling site (online).

“We need to work with Interpol and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to be able to facilitate so that the servers out there can not accommodate the interests of online gambling from Indonesia,” said Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Hadi Tjahjanto as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, June 13.

By collaborating with Interpol, the Online Judi Task Force which was formed later will have a wide range in tracing the parties operating the gambling site.

Hadi explained that the search would later be carried out by finding out the flow of funds from accounts that were often carried out to accommodate gambling money.

So far, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs has blocked 5,000 accounts which are allegedly actively used in gambling activities.

With these findings and Interpol assistance, Hadi believes the task force will find it easier to eradicate gambling online sites in Indonesia.

Currently, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is preparing a special task force to eradicate gambling activities. The task force will contain various law enforcement agencies and financial-related agencies.

Until now, the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs is waiting for a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) which will be used as the legal basis for the assignment of the Online Judicial Task Force.
