Conor McGregor releases bevy of training footage amid UFC 303 speculation

Conor McGregor wants the world to know that he’s ready for his comeback.

Understandably, doubts have been raised over McGregor’s preparation for the June 29 UFC 303 event, which sees “The Notorious” return from a near-three-year hiatus to take on Michael Chandler in a headlining welterweight bout. McGregor recently cancelled a press conference in Dublin, Ireland, and now some are wondering if the fight will even take place as scheduled.

Neither McGregor nor the UFC have officially said why the Dublin stop was cancelled, but the two-division champion has continued to post to social media in the aftermath, including a series of training clips that he shared on Instagram.

In the footage, McGregor shows off a number of techniques including his signature striking style as well as working on his takedown defense. The latter could come in handy should the wrestling-adept Chandler decide to put McGregor on his back.

It should be noted that it is not known that it is not known when these clips were filmed, so it’s unclear whether this is an encouraging sign for the June 29 date.

McGregor also recently shared an image of himself grinning and appearing to be in good health, though he declined to provide a caption or commentary.

Should McGregor make the walk to the octagon at UFC 303, it will mark his first fight since July 2021. In his most recent bout, McGregor broke his leg in the first round of a trilogy bout against rival Dustin Poirier, and he has spent much of the past three years recovering from injury.

Does McGregor’s online activity make you more optimistic that the Chandler fight will proceed as scheduled? Let us know in the comments below.
