College Football 25 Dynasty Mode, explained: What to know about new features for 2024 return of classic game mode | Sporting News Canada
Video gamers have been on the edge of their seat waiting for EA Sports College Football 25 ever since the news broke previously that a new NCAA football game was coming to consoles. Now, more information is coming out about what to expect.
Dynasty Mode was one of the best parts of college football video games of the past. It gave users the ability to essentially run your own program, acting as a head coach to try and recruit players to your school, building a championship roster in the process.
It was one of the biggest questions leading up to the reveal of the newest NCAA football video game. Fans were thrilled to hear that the mode is back for the 2024 version of the game.
Still, there are plenty of follow-up inquiries about Dynasty Mode. What are the new features, if any? How will the emergence of NIL impact the game mode? And what will the game play consist of?
Here is everything you need to know about Dynasty Mode in EA Sports College Football 25.

College Football 25 Dynasty Mode features
Dynasty Mode is back and better than ever. This game play allows users to take control of their own college football program, with the ability to go 30 years deep into the franchise.
EA Sports allowed certain individuals to experience the game ahead of its official release this summer. Those that got the chance to get their hands on a controller and play the game, including Uproxx’s Robby Kalland, gave some insight on the details of the game mode, and some of the new aspects included within Dynasty Mode.
Here is a look at the changes and most prominent features of the mode.
Is Dynasty Mode available for crossplay?
One of the biggest questions is if there is the ability for crossplay, meaning users on PlayStation can play against those with an Xbox. Sadly, that is not the case.
The Online Dynasty mode will not have crossplay available. Users only will be able to play online against those with their same console.
Dynasty Mode coaching
To start, a user gets to select their type of coach. They will have one of three options, or Archetypes as they are referred to in the game — Motivator, Recruitor, or Tactician.
Unlike previous versions of the NCAA football game, gamers cannot max out all of their skill trees as a coach, which was an option in former editions. This means users have to balance their strengths and weaknesses across the 11 skill trees for each coach.
The coaching carousel returns, and there’s a change that users have been asking for — the ability to hire and fire members of the staff. Like the head coach, coordinators will have skill trees, and gamers have the ability to control these strengths and weaknesses to make up for what they may lack in their own skill tree.
Like in reality, if a user decides to fire a coach, recruits and players may go with them.
Dynasty Mode custom conferences, schedules
Custom conferences are back in the latest edition of the game as well. Not only can the programs switch conferences, but the rules of each conference can be altered to user’s likings as well.
The customized scheduling is also an option in Dynasty Mode. However, a team’s conference opponents remain locked in and cannot be changed.

Dynasty Mode recruiting
Here is the fun part. Dynasty Mode features 4,000 prospects, with 32 of those players owning 5-star status. It’s the coach’s job to recruit these prospects to their program, building a college football powerhouse in the process.
A recruits’ skill tree won’t become available until the program brings them on an official visit. During this time, the team also has to stay above a specific cut line, as the prospect will make decisions on their top 10 to top 8 to top 5 and top 3 programs.
One of the big draws in previous editions of the game was the ability to swing a prospects interest by throwing points at them. That won’t be available in the latest game, as a recruit’s interests will remain locked in. That may make it more difficult to build up a smaller program faster, as it will be harder to bring in 4- and 5-star recruits.
Is there NIL in Dynasty Mode?
Despite the emergence of NIL in reality, it will not be a part of the game — yet.
When the game was being developed, NIL was controlled by collectives, not the coaches and schools. That has since changed, but EA did not want to include an outdated aspect into the new game.
Can players be edited in Dynasty Mode?
Yes, to an extent. Changes to a player will be allowed, but not nearly as drastic as it was in the past.
This is due to the fact that the players in the game are actual players. Previously, they were just guys with numbers on the back of their jerseys, and users could manipulate their skills to their liking. That won’t be the case in College Football 25.
