Cold Stone Creamery slated to open next month at Lyon Village Shopping Center | ARLnow.com

The upcoming Cold Stone Creamery at the Lyon Village Shopping Center is planning on opening its doors next month, its owner tells ARLnow.

The ice cream shop will occupy the space at 3141 Langston Blvd, formerly home to a Capital One Bank. The new store was originally expected to open in May, owner Mohammed Haque said in January as the space was undergoing interior demolition.

A Cold Stone Creamery sign was installed earlier this month, according to county permits.

Haque initially considered opening the creamery near Ballston but decided on the Lyon Village property because of its size and affordability.

This Cold Stone will be the company’s second location in Arlington, following one in Crystal City. Cold Stone also has locations in Falls Church and Alexandria.

The chain offers ice cream with customizable mix-ins that are incorporated on a frozen granite countertop, including fresh fruits, Oreos, gummy bears and brownie pieces. Ice cream cakes, shakes, cupcakes and smoothies are also available.

The store should drive more customer traffic to the shopping center, which lost its supermarket tenant earlier this year.
