Christine Applegate’s daughter reveals POTS diagnosis

Christine Applegate and her 13-year-old daughter Sadie revealed the latter was diagnosed with POTS recently.

The Married… With Childrenalum’s daughter, got candid on her diagnosis on the Tuesday episode of Applegate’s MeSsypodcast, sharing that she now has an idea about her mom’s battle with multiple sclerosis.

“I have something called POTS,” Sadie shared. “I have no clue what it actually is, but it’s something to do with the autonomic nervous system and it affects my heart. When I stand up, I get really, really dizzy and my legs get really weak and I feel like I’m going to pass out.”

According to Mayo Clinic, “Postural tachycardia syndrome affects the autonomic nervous system, which controls involuntary body functions such as heart rate and blood pressure.

In postural tachycardia syndrome, the nerves that regulate blood flow are out of balance, so enough blood doesn’t go to the right place at the right time. The result is a variety of symptoms, including an overly rapid heartbeat when shifting from lying down to standing up.”

“I hate it for you my darling. I really hate it for you,” Applegate responded to her daughter.

“I’m sad. But I love you and I know you’re going to be OK. And I’m here for you and I believe you. And thank you for bringing this to light and awareness.”
