Fofana responds to Argentina chants

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has slammed the ‘uninhibited racism’ portrayed by the Argentina national team after their celebrations of winning Copa America.

A video surfaced online of the Argentina squad, which included Enzo Fernandez, chanting a racist and transphobic song about French players. They could be heard singing the first two lines of the song which begins: “On passport, French nationality, listen, spread the word, they play in France, but they are all…”, before someone is heard saying “cut the video”.

Writing on X and Instagram, Fofana put: “Football in 2024: uninhibited racism.”

That’s what CaughtOffside is claiming. It says Chelsea are working on a fresh deal for the midfielder despite Gallagher being linked with a move away.

Chelsea remain keen on Nico Williams and would still grasp at the opportunity of signing him despite his expected move to Barcelona.

That’s according to The Athletic, which says the club has done a lot of ‘groundwork’ to try and land the 22-year-old.

However, reports in Spain claim the Athletic Bilbao and Spain star only has eyes for Barcelona, with the La Liga giants confident they can get a deal over the line before long.
