Chad Gable will not be hitting the free agency market anytime soon as the no. 1 contender to the Intercontinental title says he has re-signed with WWE.

Gable revealed the news talking to Gorilla Position during an answer about Paul Levesque. He didn’t give any details in terms of deal length past that he is sticking around.

He also talked about how his career trajectory went toward the positive when Levesque took over on creative after Vince McMahon resigned — even before the current push he and Alpha Academy have received.

The news comes hours before Gable is set to challenge Sami Zayn for the aforementioned title at Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, Scotland.

Gable’s contract expired recently and while there was some speculation as to whether he would explore the market, there was no real indication that he was going to leave. Our Dave Meltzer recently reported that Gable received an “excellent offer” to stay and that some within AEW were pushing Tony Khan to sign Gable if he became available.

The 38-year-old began in the WWE system in 2013 after signing a developmental deal following his outstanding run as an amateur wrestler and a brief stint on the indie circuit. He has held the WWE Raw and SmackDown Tag Team titles in addition to the NXT Tag Team titles in his career.
