Carthage Hosts Armstrong Legacy Tiger Basketball Clinic for Youth Kids
CARTHAGE, MO — Carthage High School hosted their “Armstrong Legacy Tiger Basketball Clinic” for youth kids in remembrance for longtime Boys Basketball Coach Dan Armstrong.
Armstrong coached for the Tigers for 17 years from 1983-2000.
The camp was put on by the Carthage Boys & Girls Basketball programs, as well as Armstrong’s family.
We caught up with one his daughters Alice and Girls Head Coach Scott Moore about today’s camp.
Alice (Armstrong) Habel said, “It’s just an opportunity for us to give back to a community that sort of raised us. We spent every Saturday in the gym in the summertime with our dad watching him lead his youth camps and open gyms with his players. And it’s just a small way that we feel we can gather and keep his legacy alive”.
Carthage Head Girls Basketball Coach Scott Moore said, “Dan Armstrong was a basketball coach here on the boys side for many years, very well respected, well loved by the community. And so as part of his legacy, after passing, his family started this Legacy foundation camp. They have a golf outing that’s a big fundraiser, and they use that money to support local youth programs, especially our basketball programs”.
Tomorrow morning, they are hosting the Dan Armstrong Legacy Foundation Golf Tournament at Carthage Golf Course.
