Carlos Alcaraz reveals his mother’s sacrifice helping his younger brothers – Tennis Tonic – News, Predictions, H2H, Live Scores, stats
Carlos Alcaraz, the 21-year-old Spanish tennis star, recently opened up about his family dynamics and the significant role his mother plays in his life and career. While his family watched him lift the French Open title live, his mother’s absence from many of his matches is due to her dedication to caring for his younger brothers.
Alcaraz revealed the deep connection he has with his family before starting his Wimbledon journey. “When I finish a tournament, it doesn’t matter if I win or not, I just want to get home to be with my family. I live with my mum and dad, my older brother and two younger brothers. To them, I am not a big tennis star, just a normal guy.”
However, his mother’s absence at his matches leaves a void for him. “One of the things about tennis is that you travel a lot and my dad and older brother come with me. My older brother is my hitting partner. But Mum can’t come because she is looking after the two little ones. So getting home is great because I miss them. The longer you are away, the more you realise how much you need them.”
Alcaraz’s family includes his parents, Carlos Alcaraz González and Virginia Garfia Escandon, and his three brothers, Álvaro, Sergio, and Jaime. His journey to his first Roland Garros title was marked by an emotional encounter with his parents, who were moved to tears as they watched their son triumph after overcoming injuries.
The French Open’s official Twitter account captured this sentimental moment, tweeting, “All the feels.” Reflecting on his mother’s sacrifices and expressing his love, Alcaraz continues to draw strength from his family as he prepares for Wimbledon.
