Caleb Williams Reportedly Set To Work With Two NFL QBs During Summer
While Chicago Bears players do get some free time for the next month and a half, many will spend it relaxing or trying to have fun. However, the NFL grind never stops. Guys are expected to arrive at training camp in shape on July 26th. In shape and well-prepared. That is especially true of Caleb Williams. He is under a lot of pressure. Not only is he the #1 overall pick in the draft, but he was immediately declared the starter by head coach Matt Eberflus. That means the Bears expect him to help them win games right out of the gate.
To do that, he must learn how to play the position like a pro as swiftly as possible. For that, he will work with his personal quarterbacks coach, Will Hewlett, to continue learning the positon’s intricacies. That includes footwork, timing, anticipation, and cadence. However, he won’t be alone. Two other prominent names will join him for those sessions. Hewlett revealed as much on Parkins & Spiegel for 670 The Score. One of those could prove a great sounding board.
Caleb Williams can learn a lot from Purdy and Richardson.
Purdy is only entering his third season in the NFL and already has two conference championship appearances and a Super Bowl berth. He came an overtime away from taking down Patrick Mahomes. Also, he plays in an offensive system with building blocks similar to the one Williams will play under Shane Waldron. There is all sorts of information Purdy can offer the rookie. As for Anthony Richardson, he’s been coached by one of the best offensive minds in the game, Shane Steichen.

If Caleb Williams keeps an open mind, he should come away with some great tips from those throwing sessions over the next month. Knowing if he stops there or seeks out other avenues will be interesting. History says he’s quite proactive in his efforts to improve. That means finding experts who can teach him various tricks of the trade. One thing is certain. He will arrive at Halas Hall next month prepared and eager to get the real work going.
