The largest food bank in the province is getting a new piece of infrastructure to help with transportation of product.
The CAA has donated a fully-electric delivery van to four food banks in Atlantic Canada including the Community Food Sharing Association in St. John’s.
President and CEO Dawn Dalley says feedback from their stakeholders was clear in that helping to feed Atlantic Canadians while simultaneously electrifying the food banks’ fleet is a win-win.
In addition to the vehicles, the donation includes branded vehicle wraps, winter tires, and a level 2 electric vehicle charger with installation. The delivery vans are also stocked with non-perishable food.
CAA says it will help other food banks switch to cleaner and greener transportation as resources allow.
