After an exciting season, the following players have been selected to the 2024 All-North Jersey boys tennis teams.

The Boys Tennis Player of the Year will be announced at the 2024 North Jersey High School Sports Awards. All first-team players are nominees for Boys Tennis Player of the Year.

FIRST TEAM

Ian Batra

Weehawken junior

Batra went unbeaten at first singles during the season, guiding the Indians through a tough NJIC schedule and into the Hudson County tournament quarterfinals. A four-star recruit ranked in the Top 10 in the state by some recruiting sites, Batra reached the state quarterfinals in this season’s state singles tournament.

Shayan Chatiwala

Wayne Hills sophomore

In his first full season at first singles, Chatiwala provided a steady hand for the Patriots. The sophomore helped Wayne Hills secure its 19th straight Passaic County team title and a share of the Big North Independence division title. Chatiwala also won his match for Wayne Hills during the North 1, Group 3 semifinals.

Kiran Gurunathan

Old Tappan junior

One season removed from a sectional championship at first singles, Gurunathan stood strong in his junior season as the Golden Knights won 19 matches and reached the North 1, Group 2 sectional final. He also qualified for the state singles tournament

Ajay Kartik

Northern Highlands senior

Seeded among the top four in the state, Kartik reached the state singles final and finished as the state’s runner-up. He also guided the Highlanders to the North 1, Group 3 sectional final. Kartik has been ranked among the top 200 recruits in the country throughout his entire high school career. The Bergen County singles champion is a four-star recruit and has committed to Emory.

Max Loia

Ramapo senior

Loia only lost twice during the regular season and helped Ramapo navigate a tough schedule with a mostly-inexperienced group. Last year’s Bergen County tournament singles runner-up, Loia reached the second round of the state singles tournament after being seeded among the top 28 singles players in the state.

Niko Martirossian

Ridgewood junior

In his third season at first singles, Martirossian guided the Maroons to an undefeated regular season, a Big North Freedom division title and a North 1, Group 4 sectional championship. Martirossian won a third-set tiebreaker during Ridgewood’s sectional final win over Livingston and reached the third round of the state singles tournament before falling to the top overall seed in the bracket.

SECOND TEAM
