Becky Lynch taking ‘an extended leave’ from WWE

Becky Lynch is not expected back in WWE anytime soon.

Lynch’s contract with the company is believed to expire at the end of the month and she has not signed a new deal. Her upcoming free agency was addressed by our own Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer said.

“Becky Lynch didn’t renew. Becky Lynch is taking an extended leave. From what I was told, it’s not like a short period of time. She was looking for a long time out.”

Earlier this month, it was reported that Lynch’s partner Seth Rollins signed a new multi-year “big money” deal with WWE. He’s currently out of action after having had knee surgery in April.

“If (Rollins) is not on the road, it makes sense for her to not be on the road. They can’t be hurting for money where they need it right now. Maybe she’s looking at other things or maybe she’s not,” Meltzer added.

PWTorch is reporting that a source close to Lynch says they’re confident she will return to WWE at some point but that her “body and mind could use a break for a while.” Lynch has also reportedly has told people she does not plan on going to AEW imminently, according to PWinsider.

Lynch lost the Women’s World Championship to Liv Morgan at King & Queen of the Ring on Saturday. She then lost a rematch inside a steel cage on Monday’s Raw and posted the below image shortly after:
