Bayern Munich and Germany Leroy Sané star ready for aggressive football from Spain

Bayern Munich and German national team star Leroy Sané can take a glance over at Spain’s roster and see why they have been so successful in the EURO 2024 tourney.

“Spain are very strong, they play aggressive football and defend strongly. With Lamine Yamal they have a player who makes me ask myself: ‘How is that possible at this age?’ – That’s remarkable. I enjoy watching him a lot. I hope he continues that way. With Rodri they also have a man in midfield whom I would compare to Toni Kroos — he is the link between defense and attack. Rodri sets the pace,” Sané told Sport Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

Sané, who is battling for a starting job with Florian Wirtz, was not overly enamored with his performance against Denmark.

“It was okay, I would say. It was very important for me to get the minutes in order to get into my playing rhythm. I know I can play much better, but the game helped me a lot. I’m at an age where I can and want to take responsibility for the team – I’m more happy about my teammates’ goals than my own. My arms are often in the air to celebrate before the ball lands in the net,” Sané said with a lugh.

Like many others, Sané has been enamored with Jamal Musiala’s performances at the EUROs.

“Jamal is a great guy, we get on very well. He should keep scoring goals. I hope he will be the top scorer. He deserves to do even better in front of goal. Jamal is working very hard for that,” Sané said. “He definitely has the qualities for (winning the Ballon d’Or). If Jamal continues this way, he has a good chance of winning the Ballon d’Or soon. I also wish him this award.”
