Barcelona left concerned by Uruguay’s latest update on Ronald Araujo
Barcelona are said to be concerned after Uruguay put out a very brief statement on Ronald Araujo’s injury at the Copa America.
Araujo was forced off at the weekend in the win over Brazil but Uruguay have only just issued an official update on his condition.
A brief statement read:
“In the match corresponding to the quarterfinals of the Copa América 2024 against Brazil, footballer Ronald Araujo had to be substituted due to a physical problem. After the tests carried out, it was confirmed that it was a muscle injury.”
Uruguay boss Marcelo Bielsa admitted after the game that he thought it was a muscle problem, meaning the statement offers no new information.
Catalunya Radio are reporting that Barca are worried about the secrecy from Uruguay and what level of testing has been done on the defender.
The club are believed to fear the investigations have not been thorough enough to rule out whether surgery is needed or just conservative treatment.
There’s also no estimate of how long Araujo is expected to be out of action for, although the current thinking seems to be he will miss two months.
