Not the kind of finish Scotland were after and they will feel that they are 10-15 runs short of where they would have hoped to be. Brandon McMullen got off the blocks quickly which allowed George Munsey to take his time initially. Soon, both batters matched each other shot for shot to lay a solid foundation. It was in no way crash, bang, wallop by McMullen but proper cricketing shots on the way to a 26-ball fifty, the fastest for Scotland in T20 World cups. Considering the platform set, it was important for the incoming batters to keep the momentum up. Richie Berrington held one end up but neither of the incoming batters could find boundaries with regularity and as a result, they had to settle with 180 on the board. This is Scotland’s highest score in Men’s T20 World Cups and the highest score by an Associate nation against Australia in the history of the tournament.
