Arsenal news and transfers LIVE with Kadioglu interest, Zirkzee demand

Chris Waddle believes Arsenal’s Premier League rivals Manchester City should be relegated to League One, if found guilty of their alleged 115 FFP breaches.

The reigning champions were charged in February 2023 concerning historical accusations from 2009 until 2018 of violating the league’s Financial FFP regulations. City vehemently denies all charges, with an independent commission reviewing them.

“Where Manchester City should be relegated to, if found guilty, depends on the cases. Look at Rangers, my old club Marseille too. If they were to get relegated, and I don’t know if they have enough bottle to do that, it will be Championship or League One,” he told Betway.

“I think it should be League One if guilty of 115 charges, it needs to be a big punishment. I’m not against City and I love watching them. I think Pep is fantastic, but if they have broken the rules then it doesn’t matter how good you are, you have to be punished.

“Does this deflect the 115 charges against them? What did people expect? The richest club, best lawyers, best everything. If the charges come, in every other country you get relegated for breaking rules.

“Would money be an issue for them if they were fined? No. What would hurt them would be getting relegated. It’s not one case, it’s not, ‘oops, I made a mistake’, it’s 115. If they have broken rules, you get a punishment, no matter who you are or how rich you are. If this is the case you will get relegated, you can’t slap them on the wrist and fine them £1million.”
