Arizona men’s golf season ends at NCAA Championships

Arizona men’s golf saw its season come to an end Monday in the final round of stroke play at NCAA Championships.

Arizona had a disastrous day on the course, shooting 20 strokes over par to finish the event 41-over, worst among the 15 teams who advanced to the fourth and last round of stroke play. The top eight teams advanced to the NCAA match play quarterfinals. Arizona finished 16 strokes behind the cut off.

The Wildcats began the day just one stroke back of the cut but quickly fell out of contention, with all five golfers shooting over par on the first nine holes.

Filip Jakubcik managed to shoot 4-over for the round, the team’s best score. He shot 6-over across the tournament to finish in a tie for 31st.

Tiger Christensen was Arizona’s next-best scorer with an 8-over to finish in a tie for 42nd.

Arizona’s 15th place showing at NCAA Championships is its best finish since 2005-06, when the program finished 13th.
