Annual Par 3 golf tournament returns to Dawson Creek – Energeticcity.ca
DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Dawson Creek Athletic Association (DCAA) is set to host their seventh annual Par 3 golf tournament this weekend at Dawson Creek Golf and Country Club.
The DCAA was founded in 1931 to promote sports programs in the Dawson Creek area.
According to tournament organizer Craig Ingram, who is also a member of the DCAA board, the proceeds from the event will go toward the DCAA.
He says the tournament is the only one hosted at the golf club annually to fundraise for the organization.
“We will do free skiing for juniors at the hill,” said Ingram, who adds he has served on the board for two years.
“We do as much fundraising to support local sports programs for kids as possible.”
The tournament will follow a best-ball golfing format, where the closest shot off the tee determines the approach shot to a hole.
Teams of four will consist of two men and two women, with the pairs alternating tee shots from hole to hole.
“Everything is going to be a shorter distance,” said Ingram. “Men will be on even holes, and women will be on odd.”
“Prizes will be awarded to men and women for ‘closest to the pin’ on every other hole.”
There will also be a pair of hole-in-one contests throughout the round, with a chance to win two cars donated by Bannister Ford and Bannister GM of Dawson Creek.
Lunch and dinner will also be provided by Lawrence Meat Markets – Butcher Block and Peter Brothers, respectively.
The tournament will tee off on June 29th at 10:00 a.m.
Registration is $500 and all proceeds will go toward Dawson Creek youth sports programs and athletic infrastructure.
