All you need to know about tennis at Paris Olympics including stars involved
Tennis fans are in for an extra treat this year as the world’s best compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
It’s been a staple of the Olympic schedule for quite some time, and it has provided some special moments.
In 2020, Germany’s Alexander Zverez claimed gold in the men’s singles, while Belinda Bencic was the victor in the women’s for Switzerland.
Andy Murray, Serena Williams and Rafael Nadal are among past winners and there is a chance for someone new to become a hero in France.
Tennis at Paris 2024: Dates and schedule
The tennis at the 2024 Olympics is set to get underway on Saturday, July 27 and will run until Sunday, August 4.
In the men’s singles, the final is set to be on the last day while the women’s will be the day before.
In the doubles, the men’s gold medal game will take place on Saturday, August 3, and the women’s will be on the Sunday.
There will also be bronze medal matches, which will be held on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
All games will take place at the famous Roland-Garros.
Tennis at Paris 2024: Rules and format
Tennis matches at the Olympics are all best-of-three sets.
Singles matches include three full tie-break sets, while doubles include a match tie-break (first to 10) in place of the deciding set.
Every game will be played on clay at this year’s Olympics.
The competition is a straight knockout, meaning the winner/winners progress to the next round until the final.
Only 12 players can qualify from each nation, but they can compete in multiple events, while the host country (France) are guaranteed one spot per event.

Tennis at Paris 2024: Players and draw
The draw for tennis at the Paris Olympics has yet to be made and it will happen in due course.
However, there is set to be no shortage of top players involved.
2020 men’s champion Zverev is back to defend his title, while current French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz is set to represent Spain.
He will be joined by Nadal.
Novak Djokovic is also hoping to add an Olympic gold to his collection of titles.
On the women’s side of the draw, 2023 Wimbledon champion Market Vondrousova is set to represent the Czech Republic.
World No.1 and queen of clay Iga Swiatek will be there for Poland, while Katie Boulter is playing Team GB.
USA star Coco Gauff is set to be involved too.
