ALBERNI GOLF: Rain holds out for Sunday Men’s Golf action

The greens were a little wet at Alberni Golf Club for Sunday Men’s Golf, but the players managed to get in their 18 holes before the rain really hit.

The Flight A low gross top honours went to Blake Frechette with a 76, then Ted Stewart shooting 77. On the net side of Flight A were James Haggard 70, and Bryce Dabb 72. Flight B net winner was Peter Mugleston with 66, followed by Ron Scholte 71, Hank Krahn 73 and Phil Anker 75. Flight C net winner was Darren VanDyk 73, followed by Steve Pointon 76, Fred Fredrickson 76 and Darren Bellas 77. All ties were settled by retrogression.

Closest to the pin winners were Chris Bird on No. 2, Greg Eyford on No. 4, Terry Ellwood on No. 13 and Ted Stewart on No. 17. The charity closest to the pin on No. 7 was Darren VanDyk who collected $40.50.

Congratulations goes out to Cody Breuker, a regular Sunday Men’s Club golfer, who scored a hole-in-one on No. 2 during a round on Friday, May 31. Way to go, Cody!

COMING UP: Next Sunday, June 9 will be a two-man best net and best gross event. The sponsor for the day will be GD Auto. Get yourself a partner and sign up on the sheet in the pro shop. Arrange your own tee time from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. To enter the event you must put your names on the sheet in the pro shop. There will be two names per card, plus one line for your best gross and one line for your best net.
