AI Video Platform Synthesia Unveils Major Upgrade with Full-Body Avatars
People spend billions of hours watching TikTok, YouTube, and Netflix daily. Yet businesses still rely heavily on text for communication. Synthesia 2.0, which launched today, aims to change that by putting video at the heart of corporate interaction.
The standout feature is its upgraded Personal AI Avatars, but you’ll also appreciate the new tools they’ve added to manage your videos. So let’s start with the new avatars. There are now two distinct avatar types:
Expressive Avatars: Created in a studio using high-definition cameras, these avatars offer a professional feel and can adjust their tone, facial expressions, and body language based on the context of your script.
Custom Avatars: Made easily with just a webcam or smartphone, these avatars have much better lip syncing and replicate natural sounding voices in over 30 languages.
These avatars can help businesses personalize their communication, making it more engaging and human-like.
Synthesia 2.0 also introduces powerful new tools designed to streamline video creation and editing:
AI Video Assistant: This tool turns entire knowledge bases into video libraries. It uses your brand’s fonts, colors, and logos, and can create videos in bulk.
AI Screen Recorder: Allows you to turn screen recordings into polished video presentations with AI avatars, simplifying the creation process and ensuring high-quality results
Synthesia also teased a new generation of AI avatars set to launch later this year. These avatars will feature full-body movements, including hand gestures, and will be able to express complex emotions. Users will have greater control over their avatars’ appearance and animations, opening up new possibilities for storytelling and interaction.
There are upgraded editing and translation tools and make creatung and managing videos very easy. The new intuitive editing system uses triggers that simplify the process, making it accessible even to beginners. Additionally, Synthesia’s translation features have been upgraded, allowing automatic updates to all language versions when changes are made to the original video.
The new video player is also loaded with exciting interactive features. Starting next month, the player will automatically play videos in the viewer’s language. Later this year, it will support clickable hotspots, embedded forms, quizzes, and personalized call-to-actions. These features will make videos more engaging and interactive, opening up new possibilities for viewer interaction and data collection.
Finally, Synthesia shared that they are on track to get ISO/IEC 42001 certification. This standard sets out clear rules for how companies should develop and use AI systems. It helps businesses balance innovation with good governance, making sure AI is used in a way that’s safe and trustworthy. For Synthesia’s customers, it means they can use the platform with confidence, knowing the AI technology behind it is being managed responsibly.
