Ball drop to support charity

It will be raining golf balls at Harvest Golf Club later this summer.

The Acera Insurance Golf 4 Kids Ball Drop, in support of BGC Okanagan, gives people the chance to win two ticket vouchers for anywhere WestJet flies along with $2,500 spending cash.

The ball drop has set a fundraising goal of $20,000, which will be used to provide children, youth and families resources and opportunities they might not find otherwise.

There are only 799 tickets available and each one has a unique number. These golf balls will be hoisted high above a green at Harvest Golf Club on Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. and released from a boom-lift.

The ball that lands closest to the flag will win the prize package. Ticket holders do not have to be present to win, as they will be notified after the event.

“This event not only offers a fun and engaging way for the community to come together, but it also directly impacts the lives of our children by funding essential programs and opportunities. Every ticket purchased brings us one step closer to our goal and helps ensure a brighter future for the next generation,” said Richelle Leckey, BGC Okanagan, manager of fund development and donor relations.
