Bryson DeChambeau offers to make Donald Trump vs Joe Biden golf match happen
Bryson DeChambeau has offered to host a golf match between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. The two U.S. Presidential candidates were involved in a back-and-forth about their skills on the course during their first televised debate on CNN.
The topic of golf came up after CNN moderator Dana Bash raised the ages Trump, 78, and Biden, 81, would be at the end of a potential second term in office. Biden defended his age before Trump pointed out he had taken two cognitive tests.
As their exchange became more personal, Trump shoe-horned in a boast about his supposed exploits on the course. He said he had recently “won two club championships – not even senior – two regular club championships”.
He added: “To do that, you have to be quite smart and you have to be able to hit the ball a long way and I do it. He doesn’t do it. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match – he can’t hit a ball 50 yards.”

Biden responded by declaring he would “be happy to have a driving contest” as he continued to underline his own golfing abilities.
“I got my handicap, which when I was vice president, down to a six,” Biden said. “And by the way, I told you before, I’m happy to play golf if you carry your own bag. Think you can do it?”
Trump replied accusing him of lying, saying: “That’s the biggest lie that he’s a six handicap of all”. Biden then appeared to correct himself, adding: “I was a eight handicap. Yeah. Eight.”
“I’ve seen you swing. I know your swing,” Trump said. “Let’s not act like children”, to which Biden replied: “You are a child.”
After golf became a surprising talking point from the debate, new U.S. Open champion DeChambeau spotted an opportunity. The LIV Golf star, who has also become a huge social media presence, wrote on X: “Let’s settle this whole handicap debate, I’ll host the golf match on my YouTube @realDonaldTrump @JoeBiden“.
DeChambeau has previously played golf with Trump and has said in the past he is “very lucky to have a relationship with him”, adding: “He’s always been generous to me.” He also has a close relationship with his son, Eric, being filmed with him in New York the day after his recent U.S. Open win, drinking wine from the trophy as they celebrated together.
Donald Trump also shared his congratulations after his second major victory. “Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible WIN of the United States Open!” he wrote on Truth Social. “He showed a toughness and inner strength, matched perfectly with his GREAT Golfing Talent, that can never be denied!
“Under massive pressure, he pulled off some of the greatest shots ever made, especially his spectacular sand save on the 18th Hole that gave him the Victory.”
DeChambeau has 788,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel. That number would surely sky-rocket if he was able to get his wish and host a Trump vs. Biden golf showdown.
