Chinook Cove Ladies Golf report

Mosquitoes have been missing so far this golfing season, but have made a late appearance

Good news, everybody: the mosquitoes are alive and well.

Sitting down for dinner and visiting after golfing proved to all the ladies that mosquitoes are here for the year. It was getting late into the year and we were almost missing them. Almost.

Other than that, it was a pretty good day. You either golfed really well, or you hung out with friends, and who can complain about that? We did miss the hockey game, but thankfully there were lots of ladies updating us as the night went on.

Hole 1: Long putt, split between flights 3 and 4, went to flight 3’s Audrey Rilcoe.

Hole 2: Long putt, split between flights 1 and 2, went to flight 2’s Terry Jones.

Hole 3: Long drive, flight 4, went to Zarina Mitchell. Three out of the four KPs were claimed on hole 4.

Hole 4: KP, flight 1, went to Marian Wallace. KP, flight 3, went to Trish Thompson. KP, flight 4, went to Amanda Summers.

Hole 5: Long drive, flight 1, went to Marian Wallace. Long drive, flight 2, went to Babes Shanko. Long drive, flight 3, went to Kristin O’Connor. Long drive, flight 4, went to Mary Martin.

Hole 6:  Same thing as hole 4: three out of four KPs were claimed. KP, flight 1, went to Monica Lee. KP, flight 3, went to Mary Vansickle. KP in 2, flight 4, went to Zarina Mitchell.

Hole 7: KP in 2, split between flights 1 and 2, went to flight 1’s Louise Lodge. KP in 2, split between flights 3 and 4, was unclaimed.

Hole 8: Long drive, flight 1, went to Monica Lee. Long drive, flight 2, went to Babes Shanko.

Hole 9: This hole had a “closest to the 150-marker” pin for our flight 4 ladies and that winner was Rose Seymour. The least number of putts went to Terry Blaeser with 13 putts, and the greatest number of putts went to Zarina Mitchell with 26 putts.

On to the flight winners for June 18.

Flight 1: Low gross went to Louise Lodge with a score of 44 and low net went to Monica Lee with a score of 34.5.

Flight 2: Low gross went to Terry Jones with a score of 48 and low net went to Debbie Rainer with a score of 38.

Flight 3: Low gross went to Evelyn Lucas with a score of 51 and low net went to Trish Thompson with a score of 32.5.

Flight 4: Low gross went to Mary Martin by retro and second low gross went to Glenda Feller by retro as well.

We had a lot of flight 1 ladies participating this week, and they played well because half of them won pots for birdies and chip-ins. Monica Lee had a birdie on hole 9.

Chip-ins: Terry Blaeser had a chip-in on hole 6 and Louise Lodge had a chip-in on hole 8. And we have another pot winner, this time in flight 3: Nicole Huber had a birdie on hole 1.

Golfing Lingo for this week:

Winning by Retro: When two or more golfers have the same score, you take out the score cards and look at the last hole played. Whoever had the most strokes on that hole wins low gross. If by chance the golfers had the same number of strokes on hole 9, you would just keep going back (hole 8, then 7, then 6, etc.) on the scorecard until there is a different number of strokes to break the tie.
