Obsbot Launches The Tiny 2 Lite – A PTZ Webcam With 4K Sensor
Average webcams will produce average image quality. If you want high-quality video for your Zoom calls or live streaming, you should think about buying a mirrorless camera or a PTZ webcam. These professional cameras are more expensive and can be quite large. They aren’t very particularly easy to set up or control, but they do produce great images.
If you want top-quality images and sound but don’t want to invest in a mirrorless digital camera, the new Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite might be the answer. This little PTZ camera has a large image sensor that produces low noise levels for impressive image quality even in low light. The images are sharp and flicker-free, plus Tiny Lite 2 includes AI functions for face tracking.
The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite is the latest and most affordable model in the Obsbot Tiny range of PTZ webcams. It’s been designed for remote workers, live streamers and gaming enthusiasts. The Tiny 2 Lite can produce images up to 4K resolution and it has auto tracking and auto zoom functions. There are also dual-omnidirectional microphones with advanced noise canceling for picking up voices.
The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite also has some innovative features like a Beauty Mode that can make you look your best during a Zoom meeting or when live streaming. The sensor used in the Tiny 2 Lite is a 1/2” CMOS with 4K resolution. When paired with the twin omnidirectional microphones, the Tiny 2 Lite produces exceptionally clear sound, even in a noisy shared office.
The Tiny 2 Lite has a silent motor which is used for enhanced auto tracking. The motor can pan and tilt the camera on its twin-axis gimbal. A deep learning neural network algorithm produces smooth and precise tracking movements, plus the autofocus keeps things sharp, even if the subject is moving.
Thanks to a refined algorithm, the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite can interpret hand gestures and body tracking functions. Users can control the camera’s pan, tilt, zoom and tracking functions with simple hand gestures. This is ideal for a person who is streaming alone and needs to reframe and set up new shots. The framing can be checked on a screen using the live feed from the Tiny 2 Lite.
There are Standard Mode and Motion Mode tracking options built into the Tiny 2 Lite. The human tracking function includes plenty of options and can track and zoom in on whoever is talking or it will reframe a shot whenever a person moves. It’s quite eerie to watch this tiny camera following you around, no matter where you move.
Advanced Phase Detection Auto Focus technology is built into the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite for fast and accurate focusing. There is a selection of shooting modes on offer, including landscape, portrait and even an upside-down setting.
The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite is tiny and its clever stand makes it easy to position on the top of a computer monitor. Alternatively, a standard thread on the base of the Tiny 2 Lite can be used to mount it on a tripod or other type of camera grip, such as a Gorillapod.
In addition to its powerful imaging and audio capabilities, the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite’s Beauty Mode will smoothen the look of your skin and brighten your eyes, making it an ideal tool for those early morning Teams meetings following a late night out. Privacy protection features include Device Auto Sleep and customizable background uploads that can safeguard the user’s privacy during use by putting up a holding screen.
For advanced and professional broadcasters and live streamers, the Tiny 2 Lite can support the OSC protocol, Stream Deck and SDK for enhanced control and increased flexibility for broadcasting as well as education and medical settings. A physical remote control is also available for remote zooming and gimbal movements for when you don’t want to use hand gestures.
Verdict: I’ve spent a couple of weeks testing the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite. It’s a high-quality webcam that offers a lot for the money. I had been using the excellent Logitech MX Brio 4K webcam, which is also great product, but the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite is s top up with even clearer images and the flexibility provided by advanced features like PTZ and hand-gesture control, making it a compelling purchase. If you regularly live stream, broadcast or just need a high-quality webcam, the Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite is a great alternative to a more expensive mirrorless camera. It’s relatively affordable and produces excellent image quality and clear audio, plus it can intelligently track, frame and adjust shots. Highly Recommended.
Pricing & Availability: The Obsbot Tiny 2 Lite will be available globally in June 2024 from obsbot.com and major retailers. Prices start at $179.
