Who starred as the player of the year as part of the All-Bay County girls tennis teams?

The Bay County tennis season was full of exciting matches and dominant runs as North Bay Haven captured the county championship.

Here’s a look at the all-county selection for player and coach of the year, as well as teams selected by the coaches.

Player of the Year: Emily Garred

Last season, Garred made program history becoming the school’s first girls tennis player to make the state championships. This season, she dominated the field once again and advanced to the state semifinals, the furthest of any Bay County competitor.

As the No. 1 singles player, the senior boasted a 9-3 record, winning the county title. She was also 7-4 with doubles partner Lucy Wright.

Coach of the Year: Mike Matison

The Buccaneers stood out as the best team in Bay County with the entire roster finishing with records over .500. Matison has built a system that has produced high-level athletes and title winners.

North Bay Haven swept through county competition shutting out opponents 14-0 and defeating Mosley 7-0 in the championship.

Second Team All-County

Kiersten Garcia (Jr.), Mosley; Katie Childress (Sr.), Mosley; Lauren McAllister (Sr.), Rutherford; Ilyssa Leverette (Sr.), Arnold; Ann Mall (Soph.), Arnold.
