Logitech Goes Low Profile With Its G515 Lightspeed Gaming Keyboard

Logitech is upping its game with the launch today of its new G515 LIGHTSPEED TKL Wireless Gaming Keyboard. Part of the Logi G sub-brand, this new keyboard offers some high-performance features in a low-profile and more modern format than traditional mechanical gaming keyboards.

Low-profile keyboards have a sleeker design although they still use the same mechanical switch technology found in high-end gaming keyboards. The slimmer profile means shorter keystroke recognition distances which lets gamers play more comfortably without increasing actions per minute.

The G515 takes up less desk space and offers a more comfortable typing experience, enhancing gameplay without compromising traditional features. The low-profile design provides faster keypresses, letting gamers respond more quickly during intense gaming sessions. At just 22mm high, the G515 doesn’t need a wrist rest

The low-profile switches used in the G515 have an activation distance of just 1.3mm and a total travel distance of 3.2mm, shorter than traditional mechanical keyboard switches. The lightweight design and streamlined build make for more efficient gaming and comfortable in-game actions.

The G515 has a layer of sound-dampening foam and the switches and stabilizers are pre-lubricated at the factory for a smoother response. High-quality PBT keycaps provide a smooth typing experience and are durable in use, even when gameplay gets a bit intense.

In terms of advanced technology, the G515 keyboard has Logitech G’s recently announced KEYCONTROL technology. This lets gamers extensively customize a keyboard. Each key can perform up to 15 different actions so gamers can tailor their keyboard and assign macros, audio cues and lighting effects to keys.

KEYCONTROL also has a facility to add layers and modifiers like G SHIFT for increased customization possibilities. Entire custom layouts can be switched with the press of a key. Members of the G HUB community can even exchange custom designs with fellow enthusiasts.

The G515 also has Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED Wireless Pairing letting gamers connect their gaming mouse—such as the G502 X PLUS—via the G515 LIGHTSPEED dongle. This also frees up an extra USB port.

With LIGHTSYNC RGB lighting, players can customize their keyboard with a choice of 16.8 million colors and they can connect all their Logitech G gear using G HUB. The keyboard has three connection modes: LIGHTSPEED wireless, Bluetooth and USB-C wired mode. A full charge of the G515’s built-in battery can provide up to 36 hours of continuous gameplay before needing to be recharged.
